A LITTLE ABOUT ME Hi. Welcome to my site. My name is Paul Baker and I live in the county of Gloucestershire in th UK. I have been a knife smith for more years than I care to remember. My first knife was a searls style bowie made from an old carbon steel chefs knife, even then it was differentialy hardened with a pronounced temperline, and I suppose this was what started my career with Japanese style swords and knives. This style has also stuck with my bushcraft and hunters, hence the triple zone hardening system that I now use exclusively with the BUSHMANtz and the BUSHMAN scout. Materials used are straight carbon steel, 1060, cs70 , cs80 and 01 tool steel. I use traditional Japanese methods for finishing and polishing. I use both forge and stock removal methods or a combination of both. I have had my knives featured in several publications over the years and I have custom made for clients all over the world. Please enjoy this site and my Japanese site, www.bakk-knives.com Please feel free to contact me, with enquiries about my work, or even advice on knives in general. If I have an answer it will freely be given. You can contact me by email paul@bushmanuk.co.uk. or personaly by telephone 01453825208. My Bushman series have been reviewed in Tactical Knives magazine, (November2005), with very faverable results. |
